Walk a Mile In Their Shoes

Most of us are aware of the existence of poverty, but it’s hard to understand the human and systemic impacts of it without firsthand experience.

The Cost of Poverty Experience (COPE) is a 2.5-hour simulation that explores the lived experience of poverty through the eyes of real families. The experiential nature of this training helps organizations and communities understand the cost of poverty as well as what we can do about it.

Past participants have called it an “amazing, eye-opening experience” and found it helpful to see “what the working poor are up against in their battle for economic stability and how it affects their entire family.”

We’re currently seeking volunteers and participants for our next Cost of Poverty Experience on April 13th from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm. Volunteers act as essential community resources in the room. We’ll host a training at 11:00 am for the event, so all you need to bring is yourself and your phone. Click here to learn more and register to be a volunteer.

If you’d like to attend the event, you can do so for free, or, if you would like to join us for lunch beforehand, the cost is $15. Attendees may arrive for a 12:30 pm start time or lunch at 12:00 pm.

Either attendee ticket is available via the link below. We look forward to sharing this eye-opening and impactful experience with you.
